Topics for guest speakers in the year ahead were on the agenda at the fall meeting of ASJA’s Pacific Northwest chapter, held September 21st.
In 2022, a lawyer spoke to the group about copyright law for authors and creators and a tax specialist shared advice on eligible tax deductions and record keeping for small business owners.
Upcoming sessions may feature experts on:
- Licensing creative work
- Using artificial intelligence
- Trends in book marketing
- Public speaking for writers
Also discussed at the virtual meeting:
- The termination of ASJA’s relationship with association management company, Kellen, and plans for interim administration. ASJA’s telephone number (212-997-0947) will stay the same, and the association website isn’t affected by the change in management.
- Synergy between professional writers and public speakers. Minda Zetlin, who recently joined the Northwest chapter of the National Speakers Association, noted that membership in NSA is not required to join a local chapter of the organization.
ASJA members attending the September meeting: Maxine Cass, Fred Gebhart, Rosemary Keevil, Catherine Kolonko, Bruce Miller, M. Carolyn Miller, Joanna Nesbit, Randy Stapilus, Darlene West, Minda Zetlin.
