June Roth Memorial Award for Medical Journalism

June Roth was an active member of the Society of Magazine Writers that became the American Society of Journalists and Authors. She served as the 31st president of ASJA among other roles. She died September 24, 1990 of breast cancer at age 64. She was the author or co-author of 36 or so books on food and health. She was the recipe developer for the The Pritikin Program for Diet & Exercise. [source: nl199011-ocr.pdf]. Husband Fred Roth helped create two cash awards in June's name for outstanding health or medical writing. The annual award would be for the best article (first presented in 1993).
